In early 2011, Berard begun planning the daunting task of transporting this 375,000 pound boiler over 600 miles from Pryor, Oklahoma to Krotz Springs, Louisiana. After several months of preparation, Berard coordinated a turn-key effort to receive the boiler from its original operating pad, transport 30 miles over Oklahoma state roads using dual lane DOTD approved equipment, transfer onto a deck barge for transport to Louisiana, offload the cargo via roll-off on the banks of the torrent Atchafalaya River, transport 2 miles using self propelled modular transporter to the refinery, and jack down on its final pad. The entire lifting and transport operation was executed safely in less than three weeks.

Project Type: Transformer Transport

Sterlington, LA

Job Details:
Berard recently transported this colossal 674,000 pound transformer over 300 miles from the Port of New Orleans, LA to an electrical substation in Sterlington, LA. Berard prepared a deck barge to receive the cargo from ship cranes, and provided barging service to Sterlington. Upon arrival, Berard prepared the Ouachita River bank for the roll-off operation. The Goldhofer PST-ESE transporters, which are the only ones operated in the United States, proved to be the premier equipment for transport over the steep levee crossing. Minimal site preparation was needed for the transporters to climb the 10% grade, as well as to make the sharp 130 degree turn onto the one mile route over public roads to the destination.

Project Type: Transformer Move

Job Details:
Berard was contracted to move three of these 175 ton transformers from the Port of Little Rock to a power plant. The move spanned 15 miles of steep upgrades and downgrades and was accomplished using three 12 axle line spmt transporters.

Job Details:
The loadout site for this move had only one access road to it, this is where Berard's 10' wide transporters were perfect for the task. A detailed ramp & ballast plan was designed by Berard engineers to accomplish the move due to the shallow water level at the site. The move was completed successfully in only one day.
