Project
Type: Process Module
Loadout
Location: Houma, LA
Weight: 3200 & 4000
Tons
Job Details:
Yes, it’s
that big. Colossal would be the correct term
for these two modules that the Berard Team was
recently commissioned to loadout in Houma Louisiana.
Weighing in at 4000 and 3200 tons, the 165’L
x 90’W
x 70’H and 150’L x 87’W x 70’H
modules are destined to become part of
the Nikaitchuq Development Project in Prudhoe
Bay
Alaska. The modules were transported through
the fabrication yard using 144 lines of
spmts (consisting of 736 tires) and involved
several tight maneuvers to pass the enormous
loads between obstacles and a ninety degree
turn to begin the loadout onto two 400’ long
deck barges. The job was performed safely,
on time and on budget making for yet another
successful project completion by the Berard
Team. |

Project
Type: Coldbox Loadout
Location: New Iberia , LA
Weight: 750 Tons
Job Details:
Recently the Berard
team once again played an integral role in
the construction of one of the world’s
largest current industrial projects. The two
cold boxes destined to be the heart of the
new Angola Liquefied Natural Gas project were
built in New Iberia, LA and needed to be loaded
onto a ship in Houston, Texas due to draft
restrictions
at the Port of Iberia. Berard provided turnkey
services, arranging all aspects involved with transferring
these cold boxes onto an awaiting ship. The two
750 ton boxes were too large to be loaded with
ship cranes; using transporters and a ro-ro ship
seemed to be the only viable option. |

Type: Heat Exchanger Extraction
Location: New Orleans
LA
Weight: 240,000 lbs
Job Details:
When it was time for a New Orleans refinery to maintain
their 240,000 pound heat exchanger, Berard was called in to remove the exchanger
from its crowded operating location to a cleaning area. Berard utilized a unified
jacking system to lift the exchanger from its original supports. A 300 ton sliding
system was positioned beneath the
saddles, and the jacks were removed. Berard crews extended the slide track into
the neighboring alleyway. Two six axle Goldhofer PST-SLE units were situated
so that the slide track would move the exchanger directly atop the
transporters. In a matter of hours, the exchanger was slid from its operating
location onto the transporters, and transported out of the operating unit. |
